Is My Marriage In Trouble? 5 Signs Of Common Marriage Problems.
If you’re asking yourself the question, “Is my marriage in trouble?“, unfortunately, the answer very often is “Yes”! Let’s be honest, you wouldn’t be worrying about your relationship with your spouse unless you had good reason. You know the old saying, “Where there’s smoke, there’s fire!”.
Marriage problems are becoming all too common these days and with statistics showing that more than 50% of all marriages end up in separation and ultimately divorce, the odds are certainly not in your favor! So, what’s the best course of action for you to follow to possibly save your marriage?
The first obvious step is to find out if your marriage is actually in trouble. Discovering early on in your marital situation that problems exist or are festering between you and your husband or wife, can be the key to repairing the relationship before it permanently falls apart.
A marriage in trouble can be saved, but you have to be willing to ask the hard questions and be prepared to do the work necessary to make it work. And, the sooner you can figure out that something is wrong in your marital relationship, you’ll have a far better chance of fixing it.
But, and it’s a huge “but”, you need to be aware of the first indications of a marriage in trouble!
5 Signs Of Common Marriage Problems.
#1: Do you and your spouse really talk to one another?
The lack of effective, meaningful communication between husbands and wives is most often one of the earliest signs of a marriage in trouble.
When couples stop talking to each other about their feelings, hopes and aspirations, it can lead to problems festering beneath the surface. If it appears that neither you nor your spouse are interested in sharing intimacies like you once did, then be warned, this is a sure sign of trouble ahead.
#2: Are you drifting apart?
Do you spend as much time together as you did early on in your marriage?
It’s a sad fact that when relationships begin to turn sour couples start to drift apart more and more, constantly inventing reasons to be anywhere else rather than be with their partner.
If you realize that your husband or wife is spending more time away from you without any real justification, then this could quite possibly be a sign that your marriage is heading for the rocks!
#3: Increasing lack of physical intimacy.
If your spouse tends to continually avoid any sexual intimacy with you, using the good old, “I’ve got a headache” or “I’m just too tired” excuses, then the alarm bells should start ringing! It’s often an indication that something could be very wrong.
Of course, there can be real reasons why your partner doesn’t want to be intimate and you shouldn’t jump to unnecessary and unfounded conclusions. But, a sudden decline in sexual interest or desire toward you by your spouse isn’t something you should ignore.
#4: Your opinions, concerns or feelings don’t matter any more.
A signal of a possible marriage in trouble is when your spouse appears to have lost all respect for you. They don’t take your problems seriously and aren’t the least bit interested in what you have to say. And, what’s more, they don’t seem to care if they’ve hurt you emotionally!
Having mutual respect for your partner is a vital key to any successful, happy relationship and this is especially true for a marriage.
#5: Your spouse has “tuned out” of the marital relationship.
You’ve stopped fighting and your spouse isn’t arguing with you anymore. This may seem like a good thing! But, you need to figure out whether or not they’ve stopped fighting because the problems are solved or because your spouse has simply given up on your marriage.
If it’s the latter, then this is a bad sign. It shows that your partner no longer cares and has disengaged themselves or “tuned out” of the relationship. This is one of the worst signs of a marriage in trouble.
The signs of marriage troubles mentioned above are, of course, only a small example of things that can indicate that you’ve got problems. Once you’ve figured out for sure that your marriage is indeed in need of repair, then what?
My advice is that, if your relationship is important to you, you must start the process of finding and fixing whatever it is that has brought you to this point of marital strife. It’s not going to be easy, but it can be done by discovering the right plan to save a marriage in trouble before it’s too late!
